Valentin Podmogov

Valentin Podpomogov (April 29, 1924 – July 18, 1998) was an esteemed artist, film director, and screenwriter from Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR (now Armenia).
Biography: Valentin Podpomogov was born in Yerevan to an Armenian mother and Ukrainian father. He received his education at the A. Pushkin school. His artistic career commenced in 1940 at the Hayfilm film studio, where he worked as a painter. Podpomogov made significant contributions to the development of Armenian animation during the 1960s.
In 1972, he appeared in Edmond Keosayan’s film “Men” in the role of a professor with many children. Additionally, he acted in various roles in films such as “Morgan’s Brother-in-law,” “The Man from Olympus,” and “Karine.” Podpomogov also served as the chief artist of the Yerevan Political Council.
He began painting at the age of 50, showcasing his artistic talents beyond the realm of cinema. In 1967, Valentin Podpomogov was honored with the title of Honored Artist of the USSR for his outstanding contributions to the arts.
Valentin Podpomogov passed away on July 18, 1998, in Yerevan, leaving behind a legacy of artistic innovation and cultural enrichment in Armenia and beyond.
